The house was built sometime in the mid-19th century with stones from the surroundings, sand, and clay from the seashore, and wood from family-grown cypress. We embraced its heritage, kept its external shape intact, and accentuated original elements yet, without sacrificing comfort and style
Heritage revived, Hidden elegance!
We refurbished this unique stone family house with love for its authenticity, adding a touch of timeless minimalist design and modern conveniences.
A characteristic exception is the doric “entablature” that crowns the front wall of the house, built at the time by excellent craftsmen from Corfu town using the old technique of stacked slate stones. It was a distinguishing decoration for a mansion in the city during the Venetian era but a such a rarity for a village house! Later in 1950, s the house extended with the addition of two kitchen rooms, one in the side yard (Rr1) and one in the front yard (RrII).
Today, an oasis of calm for lovers of unspoiled nature on the foothills of a mountain overlooking olive trees, the sea, just 2.5 km above Acharavi.
Two houses comprise the original old stone house. Our Rural Retreat I sleep 4 people in the old house. The attached but autonomous Rural Retreat II sleeps 3-4 people too.

It is a lovely, secluded place on the side of a mountain with great sea views, the surrounding area and evening sunsets. Voula and Katerina were extremely helpful and hospitable. Great location for exploring the area. Close to quiet beaches and ancient hillside villages.

The old stone house with its terraces, plants, and flowers is perfect to spend some relaxing days in Corfu. Good location to explore the northern part of the island. The views from the main bedroom and terraces are wonderful, especially for sunset. Voula and Katerina are super nice and contact was perfect. We totally recommend the place and would stay there again

What a beautiful little escape. We loved exploring the area and the tranquillity was stunning. Voula was an exceptional co-host and it was so lovely to get a local perspective on the area.
Nothing beats a tour of the trees when you arrive to a new house.

Both my friend and I enjoyed an excellent and memorable stay at Katerina’s beautiful and authentic stone house.
My children detoxed (almost :-)) completely from the city life and so did we.
The house is nicely situated in an absolutely calm and secluded area, still close enough to the bubbly beach town Acharàvi where shops and restaurants are ample available.
Every evening we made sure to not miss the sunset, since we had an excellent sea view from both terraces.
The main house is perfectly maintained and equipped and so is the guest house, in which I stayed with my two young teenagers. The accommodation has much character and is decorated with culture and taste.
Katerina met our needs and even went beyond that even if she was not physically there.
Hopefully we will visit again!

Karaktervol, een adembenemend uitzicht en van alle gemakken voorzien. Wat wil je nog meer? Voor ons (vader en drie kinderen, 10, 14, 15) was dit een heerlijke week. Maar liefst twee terrassen (waarvan 1 met een grote parasol), ligbedden en een hangmat: voor iedereen was er wel een plek om te chillen. Geen zwembad, maar wel een fijn strand op nog geen kwartier rijden. En iedere avond weer een geweldige zonsondergang. Wel wat last van muggen, maar gelukkig niet tijdens de slaap dankzij airco en klamboes. Tijdens ons verblijf konden we altijd terecht bij de verhuurder en ons attente aanspreekpunt in het kleine dorp. Een week lang geen WiFi, dat is misschien even wennen (zeker met pubers), maar uiteindelijk ontstaan er leuke gesprekken en komen de spelletje snel op tafel.

Katarinas Steinhaus ist ein Rückzugsort in den grünen Hügeln über Acharavi. Das Haupthaus mit seinen
2 Schlafräumen und der geräumigen Küche und der Terrasse sowie das Nebengebäude mit großem Bett,
Küchenzeile und kleinem Duschbad erstrecken sich über 4 Ebenen am Hang mit Platz für Liegen, Hängematte, Tische, Sonnenschirm usw. Alles ist liebevoll möbliert und dekoriert. Die Betten haben Moskitonetze. Man hat einen tollen Blick auf die Bucht und den Sonnenuntergang. Die Zufahrt mit dem Auto ist eher für geübte Fahrer aber machbar, der schöne Fußweg nach Acharavi hinunter dauert ca. 30min.
Wir haben uns hier als Familie mit 5 Personen sehr wohl gefühlt und wurden von Katarina und Vuola von Anfang bis Ende sehr gut und herzlich betreut.
